What is in the click and heat pack?
All of the Body Comfort click and heat packs contain water and food grade sodium acetate (a form of salt). The metal disc inside is made of stainless steel and the outer shell is medical grade plastic.

How is the heat produced?
By flexing (not breaking or cracking in half) the stainless steel disc, small molecules turn into a solid state which then creates a chain reaction causing the solution to crystallize and instantly heat to a predetermined amount of energy, 130° degrees F / 53° degrees C to be exact. The ability to create heat for a long period of time is accomplished due to the liquid NOT crystallizing at the same time. Molecules that were not required to heat the pack to its maximum temperature will remain liquid and crystallize as required, thus maintaining the maximum temperature.

How long does the heat last? Does it lose heat?
Body Comfort click and heat packs retain their heat for a period of 30 minutes and up to an hour. As your body draws heat from the heat pack the temperature will decrease gradually. All Body Comfort click and heat packs will maintain appropriate heat for therapeutic or doctor recommended timing, usually 15-20 minutes per use.

Can 130° degrees F burn you?
No…Per numerous health sites 158 degrees F is considered burning point. Body Comfort click and heat packs are controlled to NOT exceed 130 degrees F, thus giving you perfectly controlled therapeutic heat unlike other heat packs that are heated via microwave, conventional oven or uncontrolled. If you should notice sensitivity when using Body Comfort click and heat packs, please wait 5-10 minutes before placing on desired body location.

Can I re-use my Body Comfort click and heat packs?
Absolutely… Once the pack has given off all of its heat it will remain in a crystallized harden form until it is recharged. To regenerate your click and heat pack, place it in already boiling water and continue boiling for a period of 5-10 minutes (do not allow vinyl coating to touch the pot or bowl directly), or until all of the crystals have melted back to a clear liquid state . You may notice bubbles, this is normal, carefully remove the pack with tongs from the water (watching you do not burn yourself do not pick up directly with your hand) and place on cooling rack and let cool to room temperature before reactivating. To speed the cooling process, place the click and packs in the refrigerator.

NOTE: The click and heat pack will not reactivate if its temperature is above 130° degrees F, cool time is mandatory for reuse. For a video on this process click here

How many times can the click and heat pack be used?
As long as you do not break the stainless steel disc, there is no limit to the number of times a pack can be used.

Is the solution safe? Are they suitable for children?
Body Comfort click and heat packs are suitable for children, adults and even pets. They are great for cold hands, feet or for comforting purposes, but should NOT be used as toys. Since sodium acetate is a food additive, it is non-toxic. It is safe, however we do NOT urge you to drink or eat it. Should it break open or become puncture and be licked, swallowed or digested, consult your physician.

Can the click and heat packs be used as a cold pack?
Yes, place in refrigerator for 20-30 minutes and place on desired body location. For faster results, store your Body Comfort click and heat packs in the refrigerator for instant use as a cold pack or click and generate instant heat. For colder desire, store in the freezer
NOTE: you will need to boil to regenerate pack for heat relief.

What happens if the pack becomes punctured?
The Body Comfort click and heat pack will still activated, however it will not regenerate. The pack must be exchanged through our Lifetime Guarantee process.

Troubleshooting My click and heat pack won’t crystallize or heat…
  1. Occasionally it may require multiple flexing attempts of the stainless steel.
  2. The temperature of the click and heat pack may still be too hot after boiling, please allow more time to cool and retry.
  3. Sometimes you may have a damaged or defective pack, please refer to the Lifetime Guarantee card in each box and return the click and heat pack for a replacement. Only shipping and handling is required.
There are white crystals that form in the liquid pack after reusing…
This is normal, if the click and heat pack and been stored in its crystallized state for an extended period of time, a small amount of water can evaporate from the pack and cause the solution to become more concentrated. This is referred to as a “snowflake like” appearance, the click and heat pack will still work, however at a slightly higher temperature which is not controlled or safe. . This water loss can be reduced back to its original state by boiling the click and heat back to a completely liquid state and cooling before reusing.
